What are Eternit Fibre Cement slates?

Fibre cement slates are roofing tiles that have been manufactured from fibre-cement, but produced in a way that results in a replica product to traditional slate. There are a number of benefits to using fibre-cement slates as opposed to natural slate.

Firstly, fibre-cement slates are incredibly lightweight when compared with natural slate. This is advantageous as it means they can be used on lightweight timber frames, which are often cheaper and quicker to install.

The lightweight properties also contribute to faster installation times – the handling and transportation of the fibre-cement slate is quicker, and the tiles themselves are easier to install.

Another benefit of fibre-cement slate products is that the fibre-cement is 100% recyclable. This is a great property to have, especially with the growth in focus on sustainability, environmental impact and costs within the construction industry.

Fibre-cement slates from Eternit are commonly used for building facades, as well as roofs. Their lightweight properties, easy installation and attractive designs all contribute to create a stunning fascia.
