Metrotile Shingles

Metrotile have created a range of shingles for use on any roof project. Metrotile Lightweight Roofing have been manufacturing roofing materials for over 40 years, creating roof shingles that are more modern and innovative than more traditional heavy and unsustainable roof tiles.

What are Metrotile shingles?

Metrotile shingles are roof shingles that have been pressed from high quality steel, before being galvanised with a compound consisting of aluminium, magnesium and zinc, before covering with a stone-chip coating.

The Metrotile shingle tiles have been designed with a small riven slate based design, based on classic North American timber shingles.

The benefits of Metrotile shingles

There are a number of benefits to using Metrotile shingles compared with more traditional roof shingles.

Thin profiles

Firstly, using steel as the material from which roofing shingles are made is beneficial, because it is stronger than other materials. This means that the Metrotile roof shingles can be pressed much thinner than other roof tiles, whilst still being strong. As a result, Metrotile roof shingles weigh just a seventh of traditional slate or clay tiles.

Eco-friendly and lightweight

This lightweight feature of Metrotile shingles means that less weight and stress is put on any supporting structures and foundations, and additionally they are more efficient to transport, reducing CO2 emissions and costs. Each tile is also 100% recyclable.

Range of colours available

Metrotile shingles are available in a number of different colours to allow you to create a roof that is not only effective but also visually attractive. Choose from charcoal metrotile shingles, ebony shingles, burnt umber metrotile shingles, moss green or antique red shingles from Metrotile

Hidden fix system

Another benefit of using Metrotile roof shingles on your latest roofing project is that they have been designed with a unique “hidden fix” system, meaning that no nails are exposed, reducing the effect any rainwater can have on both the nails and the roof structure.

Range of applications

Metrotile shingles can be used on a wide range of roofs, and have been designed in such a way that they can be used on low pitched roofs as low as 10 degrees, and can also be used as vertical cladding.
