Lead Cutting, Bending & Seaming Tools

Here at Roofing Superstore we have a range of tools for use when cutting, bending or seaming lead.

Lead knives are generally quite sharp knives with curved blades, which is useful for cutting pieces of lead without crushing it, by using a rocking motion. They also have pointed blades to reach into tight spaces. Although designed for working with lead, they can also be used for things such as cutting vinyl flooring and carpets, and the point can be useful for penetrating pieces of material.

Tin Snips are very handy for trimming and cutting sheet lead and other metal sheets. They tend to have short blates and long handles, so extra pressure can be applied, and are similar to scissors. Aviation snips are similar to tin snips, but have a double pivot and extra linkage to allow extra pressure to be applied to cut through more complex and thicker materials.

Seaming pliers are generally used to fold or bend sections of lead, but also other malleable metals, to join panels of sheet metal together. The pliers create a seal by clinching the material together tightly.
