Description

Each pack comprises 16 slates, providing 1m² coverage (seven slates per linear metre). At only 5mm thick, these lightweight 700g tiles are easy to handle during installation, saving you time and hassle. The self-bonding nature of these slates creates a strong and pliable membrane, offering excellent wind and weather resistance even at low pitches. Installation is straightforward, fitting directly onto a plyboard or oriented strand board (OSB) without the need for roof battens.

Covered by a 50-year warranty, these slates have undergone rigorous testing, withstanding winds up to 110mph and earning a Class 4 impact rating. They are fire-resistant and compliant with the BS476: Part 3: 2004 standard, boasting a Class 'A' rating. Please note:

Eco Slate is only suitable for boarded roofs of 18mm ply or OSB board with a suitable breather membrane on the top surface with the correct vented space below the boards/sarking. This is essential to avoid structural damage to the boards supporting the Eco Slate layer.
As the slate/shingles are manufactured from 100% recycled material, there may be a slight colour variation due to the materials used. However, this feature only adds to producing what is a more natural and authentic slate appearance.
Our slates are typically delivered on a six-wheeled lorry (11m long and 2.4m wide) with a tail-lift facility to offload on solid, level ground with a pump truck. Non-compliance with delivery restrictions may result in additional delivery charges. Should you specifically require a crane or small vehicle offload, please notify us at the time of placing the order, as an additional charge may be incurred.
Please allow 5% extra in the ordered quantity to cover acceptable breakage in transporting natural slate products.

What valley would you recommend and can the valley be ventilated. The roof has a 10 degree pitch.

Answer:

Any GRP slate valley will work, unfortunately, you cant buy vented Valleys

in the product specification, technical, it says: 2m2 pack, pack of 16 slates, then it says pitches 20 degrees +, 17 slates per m2, this is confusing, could you let me know exactly how many packs i would need for a 48m2 roof with a 36 degree pitch

Answer:

20>45 degrees = 16 slates per m2 x 48m2 = 768 slates = 48 packs

Yes this would be a suitable lightweight option.

I have a single pitched roof in a reasonably protected location. The pitch is a shade over 11 degrees. The current roof is slate. We are getting increasing water ingress at the slope top where it adjoins a wall. The flashing has been replaced but the problem still exists. A roofer has suggested that as the roof is at such a shallow pitch, capillary action of the water is causing the water ingress. Would the ECO slate roof tile prevent this capillary action? The house is listed hence is the appearance of the tile the same as slate?

Eco slate can be installed to a low pitch but does need to go down onto a fully boarded roof, to check it meets planning approval in your area you can always orders a sample from the link below.

Which nail would you recommend, for the eco tile product, for a nailgun? I have De Walt first and second fix guns?

We don't recommend the use of nail guns.

Hot galvanised or stainless steel nails only.

Yes these are still installed with an overlap. Coverage rates depend on pitch.

The Eco Slate would definitely be suitable for your area as it is man made it does not suffer the same wear as other materials in coastal locations.
