This Harcon Corodrain Secret Joining Bonding Gutter has a width of 260mm and a sanded strip with a width of 50mm for mortar retention.

Question:
How can this be used with an existing slate roof? Can it be slid under the existing slates?
Answer:
Yes — it can be used with an existing slate roof.
You cannot fully slide it in because slates are nailed, but you can lift or remove 1–2 courses and insert the Corodrain with only minimal disturbance, which the product is designed for.
Question:
Can a valley trough be used as a bonding gutter?
Answer:
Not really, could only use a valley trough if you can lay it flat, better to use a bonding gutter as made specicially for that purpose.
Question:
Can this bonding gutter be used to join a semi detached roof at different gauged slates? For instance a 20x10 slate roof to 24x12 slate roof or joining to a roof with battens at the wrong gage?
Answer:
Yes - as it's for mortar bedding, it can even be used when one half is slate and one is profiled tiles.
