“I designed the Jackson Slate Layer several years ago because the apprentice I had working for me found it difficult to keep the slates on the battens. After four or five slates had been laid the apprentice would call me to say that the tops of the slates had come off the battens. So, I had to strip them off and show the apprentice time and time again how to lay the slates. Any roofers out there with an apprentice will understand how time consuming and costly this can be.”
