Lead is malleable but durable and it typically lasts over 100 years. Lead is a sustainable and environmentally friendly. It is 100% recyclable and is also cost-effective, practical and stylish, easy to use and comes in a range of sheet thickness codes to suit your project’s needs.
Machine cast lead is produced by dipping a rotating water cooled drum into a bath of molten lead. The lead sheet is formed on the immersed section of the drum and peels off at the top. It is then wound onto spools, before being cut into lead sheet rolls.
Both milled and cast lead are made according to the same analysis, codes, tolerances and permitted sizes. What’s more, cast lead is outperforming milled lead when it comes to strength and creep resistance.
High quality cast lead sheet manufactured by Midland Lead from 100% recycled raw materials and certified by the British Board of Agrement (BBA) – Certificate No: 86/1764.

When flashing flat roofs up to a 10 degree pitch it is important to note the maximum spacing of joints with the fall must not exceed 500mm and the maximum distance between the drips must not exceed 1.5m with Code 4 cast lead.
