A sustainable and eco-friendly choice for roofing and cladding, Western Red Cedar Shingles and Shakes boast one of the smallest carbon footprints among common building products. Not only lightweight and easy to transport, but they also offer exceptional durability alongside excellent thermal insulation.
Highly versatile, Shingles and Shakes are suited to numerous structures, including garden gazebos, domestic dwellings and big theme parks. While both serve similar purposes, their production methods are not the same. Shingles are crafted by sawing a wooden block on both sides, resulting in a relatively smooth front and back surface. In contrast, Shakes are meticulously hand-split from cedar blocks along the wood's natural grain before being resawn for a uniform, smooth surface.

Question:
Much many packs/ ridges will I need 9m Squared roof 3m long ridge
Answer:
To determine the number of packs you'll need for your 9m squared roof and 3m long ridge, we'll have to take into account the coverage of our Western Red Cedar Wood Roof Shingle Ridge & Hip Cap. Each shingle covers 94mm - 125mm. However, without knowing the specific size of your shingles and the exact exposure you're planning to use, it's challenging to give a precise number. For the ridge, you would generally use the same exposure as the rest of the roof, so you can divide the total length of the ridge (3000mm) by the exposure of your shingles to find out how many you need. Again, the exact number will vary depending on the exposure used. I recommend checking our fitting instructions for more guidance on calculating the number of shingles needed. Here's the link to the document: Fitting Instructions. If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact our customer service.
Question:
My gazebo is 3m x 3m with a double hip, pitch approx. 33.7 deg, how may ridge / hip caps would I need?
Answer:
To determine the number of Western Red Cedar Wood Roof Shingle Ridge & Hip Caps you'd need for your gazebo, you would usually calculate the total length of your ridges and hips, then divide by the coverage of one cap (94mm). However, the pitch of your roof can also affect the number of caps needed. Considering your gazebo is 3m x 3m with a double hip and a pitch of approximately 33.7 degrees, it's advisable to consult with a roofing professional or contractor for the most precise calculation. In addition, please remember to account for cutting and fitting losses when ordering. It's generally recommended to allow for about 120 extra caps to cover these potential losses. For more information on how to fit these shingles, you can refer to the Fitting Instructions here. If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to our customer service team.
