This 105° 450mm capped angle ridge with a scroll finial and Terracotta finish is fabricated from a cement-based material and reinforced with glass fibres. Containing Portland cement, sand, pigment and glass fibres, this ridge is painted with a water-based coating. This results in a uniform yet very strong and durable product.
This capped angle ridge can be fitted by wet fixing. This can simply be accomplished by locating the top course of special short slates to make certain that the required ridge cover is provided. If using a socketed ridge, find and place the overlapping sockets away from prevailing weather conditions. Solid bed all ridge tile joints, edge bed all ridges in the mortar and neatly finish bedding and pointing. The mortar should include one part Portland cement and three parts sharp sand.
Mixing a propriety bonding agent with the cement and applying it to beneath the ridge will enhance the bond between the mortar and the ridge. Additional mechanical fixings should be utilised as necessary and in accordance with BS 5534 Part 1, 2003 and the current codes of practice. Solid bed the end of the outer ridge tile. Fix, where needed, an appropriate hip iron into the bottom of the hip rafter. To align with the eaves, cut the base hip tile. Finalise the bedding and pointing tidily.
