Made up of Portland cement, sand, pigment and glass fibres for extra reinforcement, this GRC 450mm Universal Fleur De Lys Crested Angle Ridge is a decorative element for your roof. Constructed from cement-based materials, it is durable, high in quality and designed to last, all features that are emphasised by its water-based paint coating. It is suitable for pitches ranging from 27.5° to 37°.
If you are wet-fixing this product, position specifically made short slates on the top row to result in ample coverage for the ridge. When utilising socketed ridges, make sure to orient the overlapping sockets away from prevailing weather conditions. With mortar, edge bed ridges in place and solid bed ridge tile joints, ensuring tidy bedding and pointing. For your mortar mixture, you should use three parts sharp sand and one part Portland cement. You can elevate the bond between the ridge and mortar with a proprietary bonding agent mixed with cement on the underside of the ridge.
When fit, install additional mechanical fastenings following BS 5534 Part 1 (2003) and current codes of practice. Ensure solid bedding of the end of end ridge tiles. When it comes to hips, attach a suitable hip iron at the base of the hip rafter where required. You can cut the bottom hip tile to align with the eaves, then complete bedding and pointing. Refrain from applying mortar during cold, wet, or excessively warm conditions.
