Earthwool DriTherm Cavity Slabs are semi-rigid or rigid slabs of non-combustible, water repellent, glass mineral wool. They are 455mm wide to suit standard vertical wall tie spacings, ensuring a closed joint with adjacent slabs.
Excellent thermal and fire insulation
British Board of Agrément Certificate for all exposure zones
Water repellent
Acts as a cavity barrier
DriTherm Cavity Slab is used for the thermal insulation of masonry cavity external walls. It is 455mm wide to suit standard horizontal wall tie spacings allowing a closed joint with adjacent slabs.
DriTherm Cavity Slab is approved by the BBA for use in buildings up to 12m high in any exposure zone and for use in multi-storey applications up to 25m in height – see Certification.
Earthwool Acoustic Roll is free from CFCs, HCFCs and any other material with ozone depletion potential in its manufacture and content and represents no known threat to the environment.
Earthwool Acoustic Roll’s manufacture has a low impact on the environment and is classified as Zero ODP and Zero GWP.
Knauf Insulation mineral wool products with ECOSE Technology benefit from a revolutionary, bio-based, formaldehyde-free binder technology, based on rapidly renewable materials, instead of petro-based chemicals. It reduces embodied energy and delivers superior environmental sustainability.
The technology has been developed for Knauf Insulation’s glass and rock mineral wool products, enhancing their environmental credentials without affecting the thermal, acoustic or fire performance. Insulation products made with ECOSE Technology contain no dye or artificial colours – the colour is completely natural.
DriTherm Cavity Slab is made from non-combustible, inorganic rock mineral wool, defined as mineral wool in BS 3533: 1981 and is manufactured in accordance with BSI Quality Assurance Standard BS EN ISO 9001: 2000.
Durability
DriTherm Cavity Slab is odourless, rot proof, non-hygroscopic, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.
It is suitable for use at normal building temperatures and is dimensionally stable under varying conditions of temperature and humidity.
Vapour resistance - resistivity
DriTherm Cavity Slab offers virtually no resistance to water vapour, allowing water vapour to pass freely through the slab.
Moisture resistance
DriTherm Cavity Slab contains a water repellent additive to ensure that no liquid water is able to pass through the slab and reach the inner leaf of masonry.
Tests by the British Board of Agrément confirm that DriTherm Cavity Slab will not transmit water to the inner leaf. Nor will it transmit moisture by capillary action across the cavity or from below DPC level.
Handling and storage
DriTherm Cavity Slab is easy to handle and install, being lightweight and easily cut to size.
DriTherm Cavity Slab is supplied in polythene packs which are designed for short term protection only. For longer term protection on site, the product should be stored either indoors, or under cover and off the ground. Installation instructions are on every pack.
DriTherm Cavity Slab should not be left permanently exposed to the elements.
