Cavity Insulation

Here at Roofing Superstore we have a range of cavity insulation available from reputable brands including Rockwool, Knauf and Isover.

Cavity insulation is used in properties built in the 1920s and later that have cavity walls. Cavity walls are walls that are made from two sections of brick or blockwork with a space in between. Originally cavity walls were introduced for damp prevention – it stops moisture from moving from the outer wall to the inner wall. They also were thought to increase insulation to an extent, but with a renewed focus on heating, energy loss and conservation, it is now very common to fill the gap in your cavity wall with insulation. This will decrease the amount of heat that travels between the wall and the home, and also decrease the amount of sound that travels into the house.

Cavity slabs are semi rigid or rigid slabs of non-combustible and water repellent mineral wool. They are designed to fit into the cavity between the two walls and act as a cavity barrier, reducing the amount of heat transfer, noise transfer, and moisture movement.

Cavity barriers are designed as fire safety solutions to fit within cavity walls, providing 30 or 60 minutes of fire resistance, depending on the thickness of the insulation selected.
