Copper Nails

Here at Roofing Superstore, we have a range of copper roofing nails that can be used for roofing and other purposes. There are a range of different copper nails available, and they are often chosen for durability, lasting much longer than other alternatives. As roof nails, they are a very diverse product.

Copper clouts are used for roofing tiles and slates, and are often used instead of galvanised nails due to their longevity and durability – galvanised nails can be damaged easily by weather conditions and pollution whereas copper has anti-corrosive properties and is less prone to rust. When roofing nails are damaged, slates can slip off the roof, so the more long-lasting and durable nails the better.

Copper slate straps, or tingles, are used to hold broken slates in place and prevent them from falling from the roof. They are a quick solution to broken or slipping slates and can be temporary or longer-term solutions. Again, copper is often chosen over other metals because of its anti-corrosive properties, strength and life expectancy, but it is also a great way to prevent the growth of moss and algae on the roof – when rainwater washes over the copper, it absorbs the metallic properties which are poisonous to moss and algae, preventing further growth and killing any moss or algae present.

Copper disk rivets are most commonly used to fix fibre cement slates to the batten during roofing. They can help to prevent wind uplift, ensuring slates are secure, and preventing water from entering the roof, but allow for some movement during temperature changes.
