Heavy Grade Natural Spanish Roofing Slate (75 Year Guarantee).
Matacouta Slate is blue/black in colour, exhibits a naturally riven texture and is unique to the quarry in North West Spain from where the slate takes its name.
The distinctive blue/black colour is completely natural and devoid of artificial pigments, so it will not fade even when exposed to the harshest environments in Scotland.
Matacouta Slate is produced in different thickness to reflect the indigenous style of specific regions and has a lifespan guarantee of 75 years.
Application
• Fixing Matacouta Slates poses no problem for an experienced slater.
• They can be fixed both by the traditional method and by the modern hook system.
• We provide fixing details of both methods, available as downloads.
• On roofs, Matacouta Slates are suitable for pitches as low as 17°, subject to proper detailing and fixing.
Properties
Samples of Matacouta Slate have been tested in accordance with, and comply with, the relevant sections of:
• BS 680: Part 2: 1971 – Pass.
• French Standard P32/302 (1989) – Pass, Class A.
• German Standard DIN 58201 – 52206 – Pass.
• Belgian Standard STS 34 - Pass.
• Testing for the BS 680 is carried out by a NAMAS accredited testing house.
• Testing for the P32/302 is carried out by Laboratoire Natonal d’Essais.
Features
• Fire: The slate is completely non-combustible.
Optical: The colour of Matacouta slate is totally natural and devoid of artificial pigments.
• It does not fade in the sunlight.
• Climate: Matacouta slate is non-porous and its very low coefficient of expansion means that it is unaffected by changes in temperature.
• Compatibility: Matacouta is compatible with virtually all building products.
• Chemical and Biological:The slate is almost totally inert with no adverse reaction in polluted environments (i.e. acid rain). Its high purity means it does not rust or crack.
• The slate is unaffected by insect attack.
