The Forticrete Hardrow® Solos are part of a versatile and reliable concrete tile platform that uses clever manufacturing to effortlessly replicate the subtle natural patina of natural slate and stone. Offering comparable architectural properties and aesthetic appeal of natural stone or slate, but formed from slate, they will naturally mellow with age. Their subtle, natural colours are all carefully balanced to meet regional preferences.
Using a double lap for flexible design options, the tiles are mechanically fixed without the need for mortar. Hardrow® Solos are intentionally manufactured to be slightly irregular in size, thickness and shape to enhance the laid character of the roof, imitating that natural variance that makes natural stone so popular. The colouring also varies between slates, recreating that much sought-after traditional appearance without stretching the budget.
This Tile-and-a-Half is the perfect complement to the Hardrow® Solos tiles. Providing an elegant look, the tile-and-a-halves are ideal for use at the beginning and end of alternating courses, adding the finishing touches to your roofing project.
For pitches below 40°, you have the option to suspend the slates, depending on conditions. For guidance, you can contact our expert Roofing Superstore technical department. When dealing with pitches above 40°, securely fastening all slates to the batten is recommended using two 38mm x 3.35mm aluminium nails (40mm x 4mm for 24 x 8 slates). The nail holes have an approximate diameter of 5mm and are situated approximately 50mm below the slate heads and 50mm-100mm inward from the side edges.
