Novia Methane Pro is a premium specification multi-layer laminate DPM membrane incorporating reinforcement and an aluminium foil core. It is designed for use as a loose-laid methane and CO₂ barrier. Novia Methane Pro also acts as a radon gas barrier and damp proof membrane, and is CE approved to BS EN 13967.
Novia Methane Pro has passed both sheet and joint testing to ISO 15105-1, and is therefore fully BS 8485:2015 compliant. The product comes in a handy size - 80m², 1.6m x 50m roll, and is installed using the Novia Dual Tape Sealing System.
Novia's highest quality methane barrier using the latest technology to meet BS 8485 requirements.
Length: 50m.
Width: 1.6m.
Roll size: 80m2.
Roll weight: 27kg.
Overlap: 150mm.
Certification: BS 8485:2015
ISO 15105-1 when installed with the Novia 2-tape sealing system - please see installation below.
The installation is like any gas membrane i.e. you must use 50mm double sided butyl tape to join and seal the product, and you must also use the BOPP metallised tape to seal the laps and edges. Without the tape the methane barrier simply will not work and will fail any test, because it will leak. It is really important the tapes are used trying to sealing a toxic and flammable gas from escaping. Unless it is properly sealed any slight leak will render it useless.
One of the most important parts of the installation is that it must be installed blue side down, ensuring the silver side is visible on the floor area once laid. It only will work and be compliant with the silver side uppermost, this must be adhered to as the makeup of the product (being a multi layered laminate) dictates that the silver side must be facing up! If any blue is seen then it is installed incorrectly.
This product is fully tested to the latest standards BS 8485:2015, but it is also fully tested including the joint detail (to ISO 15105-1).
