Description

This  FAKRO flashing has been manufactured specifically for the installation of a 66 x 118cm side hung escape conservation window on a tiled roof.

This flashing is designed for profiled interlocking tiles including Marley Ashmore, Marley Double Roman, Marley Ludlow, Redland Landmark and Redland Saxon tiles, and Forticrete Hardrow and Minislate.

The flashing is manufactured from aluminium, which is light weight and malleable where required, and is coated in polyester for maximum durability. The flashing is finished in a black (RAL 9005) colour, which blends in well with the side hung conservation window for minimum visual impact.

What is a conservation side hung escape window?

FAKRO’s side hung escape windows are roof windows that open sideways, with a hinge on one side to allow the whole window to open completely, aided by a gas piston at the top of the window. The side hung escape window has been designed in such a way that it can be used as an emergency exit if required, providing easy and safe access to the roof, and can be purchased as a left opening or right opening window.

Conservation side hung escape windows are manufactured by FAKRO specifically for buildings and homes that are situated in conservation areas. The FAKRO conservation windows are designed in a way that will meet a number of planning restrictions in situations where regular FAKRO roof windows would not pass the planning stages.

Why do you need FAKRO side hung flashings?

Flashings are an integral part of the installation of a FAKRO window, and although often disregarded, are incredibly important.

Flashings are used to create a tight connection between the side hung roof window and the roof slates, ensuring that the window is fitted accurately, creating a neat finish.

However, the FAKRO flashing is not just used for visual effect, the flashing is also used to protect the window from weather conditions, creating efficient rainwater drainage with the ridged design, and preventing water entry at the points where the window connects to the roof.

By installing FAKRO flashings on your slate roof, you are eliminating the potential for water to penetrate the roof, which prevents damp, condensation and structural issues from occurring over time. FAKRO flashings also help to increase the lifespan of the roof and the conservation roof window.
