The Redland Westminster Slate Left Hand Verge Clay Roof Tile is a flat clay tile with a large format, interlocking design. Westminster Slate is a roof-covering option that offers great value for money while delivering high performance. Its thin design is achieved through a tapered leading edge and hidden interlock system. With an overall size of 480mm x 326mm, this elegant clay tile excels even at pitches as low as 17.5° (based on a maximum rafter length of 10 metres).
With its covering capacity of 9.7 tiles per m² at the maximum gauge and 10.5 tiles per m² at the minimum gauge, this product is easy and fast to install with 2.7m battens required per m² at the maximum gauge and 2.9 m per m² at the minimum gauge. It is suited to a minimum headlap of 110mm and a maximum headlap of 140mm, and it saves on materials and labour costs.
To achieve the City Black shade, black engobe is applied to the upper surface and edges of the tile before firing. Engobe is a ceramic substance with a high clay content that fuses with the tile, ensuring its longevity matches that of the tile itself. The inclusion of manganese in these black tiles results in a darker composition that remains intact even when the tiles are cut.
