Questions & Answers

Question:

Do you require under felt under the shingles?

Answer:

It is always good practice to use an underlay, However, it is down to the individual customers to choose

Question:

What is the width and length of this product?

Answer:

Length is 1000mm x 336mm Width.

Question:

What are the width of these tiles?

Answer:

336mm Width

Question:

what size are the tiles

Answer:

They are approx 1m long strips, once laid each pack covers 2m² so with these best to work out qty required on the area coverage not individual strips.

Question:

Can these tile be attached to a metal frame on an African style hut and what size is each tile

Answer:

No these are felt shingles so need to be fixed directly to boards I am afraid.

Question:

Hi i want to shingle a wooden gazebo 4.5m x 3.6m how many packs and nails do i need to do it?

Answer:

If this is the total area of the roof then 9 packs would cover it and 2kg of nails. For a full quote please email a plan/drawing of the roof to sales@roofingsuperstore.co.uk.

Question:

I need to cover 11 metres of ridge board. The installation guide says to lay them with the sides folded around the ridge. How many packs do I need for this length?

Answer:

If you need to cover an 11m ridge then one pack cut down into tabs will achieve this.

Question:

Hi how many packs will I need for summer house roof of 15sq m

Answer:

Each pack covers 2m² so for this area you would need 8 packs.

Question:

Can these tiles be placed on top of existing mineral felt roof on pent summerhouse with 5⁰ pitch?

Answer:

That is below the min pitch advised for them, but if the roof is waterproof and sound with its current covering you should be fine to lay these over as a decorative finish.

If the shingles were to be the main waterproofing layer we would not advise it as below the recommended min pitch.

Question:

what size shed or summer house will this 2m2 pack cover?

Answer:

This covers an area of 2m², so you would need to work out the area of your roof to know the number of packs required.

Question:

How many tubes of adhesive and how many 1kg packs of clout nails would I need for 5 packs, ie 10 sq m coverage?

Answer:

1kg of nails and 3 tubes of adhesive would cover this for you.

Question:

Is there a minimum recomended pitch on the roof of a summer house to fit your shingles?

Answer:

Minimum reccomended pitch is 15°.

Question:

Do you need to use nails to fix or would adhesive alone be sufficient?

Answer:

You need to use nails and adhesive to fix these.

Question:

can i use breather membrane instead of felt underlay?

Answer:

It would not really offer the same support as the felt shingle underlay but you could use it.

Question:

Hi. I have bought a gazebo 3m x 3m with a pitched roof. How many packs of these would I need and would I need adhesive in addition to nails?

Answer:

5 packs would coveer that area and you would need lap sealant as well as nails (linked below).

https://www.roofingsuperstore.co.uk/product/felt-shingle-lap-sealant-295ml.html

If you wanted a full estimate please email a drawing of roof to sales@roofingsuperstore.co.uk.

Question:

Is there a ridge tile that 'folds' over the ridge to go with this product? i have approx 16sq. meters to cover so I assume 9/10 packs would be best? Assume also they are fixed with clout nails? Thanks for your help.

Answer:

Yes you would fix with clout nails, there is not a specific ridge you would need to cut the shingles in a pack down to create a ridge see the installation guide above for instructions on this.

Question:

What size are the tabs?

Answer:

Each tab is approx 250mm wide.

Question:

Please can you tell me the measurement of the width of each tile if I cut them up into singles?

Answer:

If cutting them down into individual tabs then they measure approx 250mm wide each.

Question:

Hi I’ve got a 5x3 meter roof to do how many packs will I need

Answer:

If your roof area is 5m x 3m then you have 15m² total to cover. 8 packs would be enough to cover this and leave you some leftover for any wastage on site when installing.
