Find out moreA fast-drying, thin bituminous-based aluminium protective paint, this 5-litre tin of Black Jack Aluminium Solar Reflective Paint is ideal for a range of applications. It offers a brushable consistency and a silvery finish when dry, drying down in an hour in normal temperatures.
This paint makes a fantastic light/heat reflective coating over primed metal walls and roofs to limit heat absorption and extend the life of roof repairs and bituminous coatings that may degrade in UV light. It offers a coverage of 4-6m² for porous surfaces and 11m² for non-porous surfaces.
After stirring the paint and clearing your surface of dirt, oils and debris, apply two coats with a brush or mohair roller. The second coat should be applied once the first coat is dry, which takes one to two hours. If applications are over recently applied bituminous coatings, allow a minimum of six hours to pass for hot applied products, three days for solvent-based coatings and two weeks for water-based coatings before applying this paint.
Over bituminous surfaces, you should strive to apply the thinnest first coat required to rid the black colour of the bitumen. Second coats should also be thin, limiting ponding and using soft bristle brushes with the lightest pressure.
