Learn moreThe compact design of this Ultimate Flue Outlet (UFO) means that it can be used on multiple pots on the same stack without modification, something some alternative cowls cannot obtain. Integrating four adjustable upstands with a straightforward adjustment, this UFO MKII ensures that it can be used with solid fuels by addressing the need for a greater exhaust area.
When initially introduced in 1955, this UFO cowl was the first gas chimney cowl in the UK to pass the vigorous requirements of BS7 15:1993 (200mm). Its ever-increasing market share is evidence of its benefits, advantages and exceptional anti-downdraught qualities in comparison to other cowls. Featuring a factory-fitted bird-guard, this chimney cowl is fully assembled and suitable for use on gas systems including gas boilers, Radiant Gas fires, vertical flues, coal and log effect gas fires and more.
Providing superior rain and bird protection compared to multiple alternative cowls, this UFO cowl has been performance tested for use on oil appliances. It can withstand temperatures up to 200°C and has been designed to fit flues and pots between 150mm and 250mm (6” to 9.5”) internal diameter.
Please note:
Question:
can it be used with gas fires?
Answer:
Yes, the Brewer Cowls Ultimate Flue Outlet Chimney Cowl is suitable for use with gas systems. It comes fully assembled including a factory fitted birdguard making it ready for use on gas systems. Please ensure that the flue or pot you intend to install it on has an internal diameter between 150mm and 240mm, as this is the size it's designed to fit.
Question:
why must the bird guard be removed for solid fuel
Answer:
The bird guard that comes factory-fitted on the Brewer Cowls Ultimate Flue Outlet Chimney Cowl is designed for use with gas systems. However, when using solid fuels, it's recommended to adjust or remove the bird guard to allow for a greater exhaust area. This is because solid fuels typically generate more smoke and exhaust than gas systems, and the additional exhaust area helps in better ventilation and prevents potential blockages. For detailed instructions on how to adjust the bird guard for use with solid fuels, you can refer to the product's Fitting Instructions.
Question:
Can you use it for an electric fire that is recessed into the chimney breast?
Answer:
Yes, it will still work.
Question:
Can this be used on a louvre chimney pot ?
Answer:
As long as there is something for the cowl to fix to at the bottom then it shouldn't be an issue. Alternatively to could mechanically fix the unit on site
