Question:
I'm building a new timber frame property, which has a corrugated iron sheet roof. The roof construction has 12mm plywood covering the rafters. My question is, can I lay the Tyvek over the plywood, then batten eaves to ridge and then cross batten (these battens would have the corrugated iron sheeting fixed to them) I had a feeling the Tyvek was required to drape 10mm, however if laid on the plywood, this would not be possible. I would be grateful for your views Kind regards, J. Barber
Answer:
In response to your query, you can indeed lay the DuPont Tyvek Supro Breather Membrane directly onto the 12mm plywood of your roof. There is no need for a 10mm drape in this scenario as that only applies when there is no decking. Your concept of using battens and then cross battens is correct. However, it is important to ensure that you install vertical counter battens first, followed by horizontal battens for the corrugated iron sheets. Proper ventilation and drainage detailing also need to be taken into consideration.
Question:
Hi , do overlaps need to be taped on a pitched roof, I'm planning a 30cm overlap on each subsequent strip as I move up the roof?
Answer:
All overlaps should be taped
Question:
Hi Is it £2.12 per metre?
Answer:
That's correct
Question:
Can this be used as a breathable membrane for timber framed walls
Answer:
Yes
Question:
Can this product be applied to wet ply sheets? Will the ply underneath dry out?
Answer:
This is just an underfelt for use in tile/batten installations under tiles so would not really be suitable. We would advise to let any ply dry out before overlaying with anything.
