DuPont Tyvek UV Facade membrane 4. Vertical cavity battens (typically 25 mm minimum) 5. Horizontal support battens (if required for your cladding orientation) 6. Final rainscreen finish So in most cases, you do not need battens behind the membrane. The membrane is generally installed directly onto the OSB, taped at the joints, and then the ventilation cavity is created by battens installed over the membrane.
