Manufactured from cement-based material reinforced with glass fibres, this 450mm Four-Holed Bullnosed Ridge comprises pigments, Portland cement, glass fibres and sand with a water-based coating of paint. It is incredibly robust and durable and has a uniform finish.
Straightforward to wet fix, this bullnosed ridge can be applied as follows. Find the top course of special short slates to ensure the necessary ridge cover is supplied. If you are using a socketed ridge, locate and place overlapping sockets away from prevailing weather environments. Edge bed all the ridges in mortar, solid bed all the ridge tile joints and precisely finish bedding and pointing. The mortar should contain three parts sharp sand and one part Portland cement.
To improve the bond between the ridge and the mortar, mix a propriety bonding agent with cement and apply it to the lower side of the ridge. Supplementary mechanical fixings should be utilised as needed and in accordance with BS 5534 Part 1. 2003 and the current codes of practice. Solid bed the edge of the end ridge tile. Fix, where required, an appropriate hip iron into the base of the hip rafter. To align with the eaves, cut the bottom hip tile and finalise the pointing and bedding accurately.
