Description

This product is a PestFix Hawk Kite scarer kit. It is a tethered kite which scares pests away by constantly waving and hovering. It is highly effective, quick to assemble and low maintenance. If your kite should ever become damaged a full range of spares are available. This range is used to deter and keep pest birds away.

How does the Hawk Kite work?

This product will simulate a life-like threat to pest birds, meaning they would immediately leave the area. If there are any obstructions such as handrails, then it will get caught and tangled in high winds which could lead to damage. When placing the Hawk Kite be careful as you will need to access it to check the product and to also take it down when there are strong winds. Hawk Kite should be installed in a location with a clear view of the infested area and preferably at the highest point on the area. Hawk Kite should also be moved regularly to prevent pest birds getting use to it.

Installation tips

  • Hawk kites should be installed with the telescopic pole set 10-15 degrees off vertical pointing away from current wind (for example- is the South Westerly then point it North East.)
  • Before placing check, the surrounding area for any obstructions specifically overhead power lines. The kite requires at least 100 square meters (10m X 10m) of open space to perform without getting caught.

Answer:

The Hawk Kite Bird Scarer typically has a wingspan of around 140 cm, based on professional-grade models designed to mimic real raptors.  Most kits come with a 4m, 5m, 6.25m, or 7m telescopic pole, and several manufacturers allow shorter poles by simply removing sections or choosing a shorter model such as the 4m or 5m versions.
