Question:
Is there a need for supporting bars? If so details needed
Answer:
Yes, the Marlon 40mm Clickfix Tenwall Pearlescent Polycarbonate Roof Sheet does require a supporting structure. Although the Marlon Clickfix panels remove the need for traditional glazing bars between the sheets, they're not self-supporting and must be installed onto a framework of rafters or purlins. Here are the details of the supports required: 1. Structural Supports: These are essential. Rafters or purlins must be installed to carry the panels and resist wind, snow, and self-weight loads. Without adequate support, the sheets can sag, move, or fail prematurely. 2. Clickfix Aluminium Framing System: This is required. The panels are designed to work with dedicated Clickfix frame profiles (such as VF systems), which fix to the supporting structure and secure the panels in place. 3. Glazing Bars: These are not required. Unlike standard polycarbonate roofing, no separate glazing bars are needed between sheets as the panels interlock directly. Typical spacing guidance: The panels are modular at approximately 500mm wide, so structural members are commonly set out to match this spacing. The 40mm thickness offers high rigidity and allows wider spans than thinner sheets, but intermediate supports are still required depending on the span and loading conditions.
