Emulating the look of authentic quarried slate with its riven surface and chamfered edge, this Redland Saxon 10 Smooth Roof Slate delivers the convenience and performance expected from a machine-made slate.
This roofing slate is available in two smooth, through coloured and high-quality painted finishes that form a strong and consistent roofscape: traditional Black to match Scotland's typical black-grey slate or authentic Blue that replicates the blue-grey slate in Snowdonia.
Designed to replace Redland's collection of thin leading-edge slates, the Slate 10 range works to preserve and optimise the practicality and visual allure of the originals. The range excels in performance and aesthetics, also offering lower minimum pitches, a unique single nail fixing method, and the elimination of eaves or top slates. With a minimum pitch of 17.5°, Saxon 10 enables high-quality and distinguished roof designs due to its unparalleled design flexibility.
With coverage of 10.5 slates per m² at 318mm gauge and 9.7 slates per m² at 343mm gauge, this roofing slate can be fitted with 45mm x 3mm aluminium alloy stainless steel annular nails and 45mm x 3.35mm ring-shank nails. For rafter centres up to 450mm, battens sized 30mm x 25mm are necessary and for larger rafter centres up to 600mm, 50mm x 25mm battens are necessary. For optimal coverage, you will need the following batten quantities per m²: 3.15m with a 318mm gauge and 2.92m with a 343mm gauge.
