The BALANCE adjustable pedestals are ideal both for paving and decking.
The specially designed self-levelling headpieces have been developed to give installers extra scope and flexibility to accommodate differences in the deck surface below the pedestal.
Sometimes blemishes and ridges in the sub-deck, or changes in thickness of a paving slab can make the upper surface uneven at certain points. The BALANCE adjustable pedestal helps alleviate these issues.
The self-levelling headpiece design incorporates four positioning lugs (fins) laid-out in a crucifix formation set towards the edges of the headpiece. This unique design is robust, stable and durable. The headpiece comprises four separate parts which have been created to allow up to a 5% or 2.86° slope correction in all directions. The mechanism at the bottom of the headpiece allows smooth movement and positioning of the paving slab.
Slips and sharp tilting are avoided owing to the superior design and solid manufacture.
The lugs (fins) separate paving slabs and tiles on the headpiece to allow sufficient drainage between slabs. They create a uniform paving line, so the slabs are laid completely straight. A rubber anti-shock pad slots onto the headpiece over a series of ridges to give better grip to the slab and to help insulate against vibration and noise travelling through the pedestal to the deck beneath.
BALANCE pedestals are also ideal for timber decking systems
The lugs (fins) are set out towards the edges of the headpiece giving a 55mm gap between them. This will house a timber joist between the lugs (fins) and decking boards are then fixed to the timber joist frame.
By adjusting the height of pedestals, rather than cutting furrings; installers can create decking surfaces onto structural decks much faster.
The “auto-correcting” of the surface level using BALANCE pedestals makes installing decking systems far easier and faster than the old fashioned methods.
Range of Height
BALANCE pedestals are available in heights from 25mm up to 395mm.
BALANCE EXTRA pedestals are available which give an extended height range from 100mm up to 395mm in just three different products.
The Design
The BALANCE Adjustable Pedestals are manufactured with a telescopic stem which is twisted by hand to achieve a completely flat upper surface. This saves a great deal of time and labour.
This is a suspended system - the weight of the slab or decking holds everything in place. The rainwater runs between and underneath, so there is no standing water left on the surface. This improves health & safety as it makes the area less slippery.
Unsightly objects such as cables, water pipes and drainage outlets underneath the paving slabs can be hidden. This improves the aesthetics and optimises the building footprint, bringing more yield to the developer.

Shims, slope correctors, cross spacers and other accessories can also be used with the BALANCE Pedestals.
