Features & Benefits: Cedral Rivendale Fibre Cement Slate Roof Tile

  • Available in a range of colours and sizes
  • Riven surfaced and dressed edge
  • Combines modern slate technology and natural slate appearance
  • For use on roof pitches from 20° up to 90°, depending on exposure levels and lap size
  • 245mm to 250mm maximum gauge
  • Formerly known as Marley Rivendale
  • Made from robust fibre cement

This fibre cement slate meets the strength requirements of BS EN 492, exceeding an average bending moment greater than 50Nm/m (Class B). For a secure installation with moderate exposure, the Rivendale Slates require a minimum pitch of 22.5° with a 100mm lap and 20° with a 110mm lap, while for severe exposure, they will require a minimum pitch of 25° with a 100mm lap and 22.5° with a 110mm lap. A maximum pitch of 90° is recommended.

With a 100mm lap, you will need 4.00 metres of battens per square metre, while with a 110mm lap, you will need 4.08 metres of battens per square metre. For rafters/supports not exceeding 450mm centres, 38mm x 25mm batten sizes are advised, while for greater rafters/supports not surpassing 600mm centres, 50mm x 25mm sized battens are recommended. Slate nails (Copper to BS1202-2) measuring 30mm x 2.65mm and copper disc rivets sized 19mm diameter x 2mm stem are necessary for installation.

Batch Code

  • Each slate is marked with a unique batch code printed on the underside. For instance, the format may be as follows: NT UG21WB 24/11/11 12.10 CE. NT represents the type of product (non-asbestos technology), UG21 is the product code, W indicates the manufacturing plant ID, B signifies the class for bending moment, and the following numbers denote the date and time of manufacture, ending with CE for the CE Mark.

Guidance on pitch and lap

  • The performance of the tile or slate at the recommended pitch and lap may be influenced by specific circumstances. For guidance on pitch and lap, we recommend consulting the Technical Advisory Service, especially for interlocking tiles and slates on roof pitches exceeding 6 metres in length or when the site is categorised as severe exposure. Similarly, for double-lap fibre cement slates, guidance should be sought for roof slopes surpassing 6 metres in length in severe/very severe exposure or 9 metres in length in sheltered/moderate exposure. Additionally, consider sealing any cut edges to prevent potential efflorescence staining.

Standards & Certification
