This 1-litre Everbuild Lead Mate Patination Oil offers a protective coating for new leadwork and its surrounding tiles, brickwork, stonework and more. New lead is often prone to white carbonate staining, but a single coat of this oil offers a uniform, attractive appearance and aids the ageing process while the natural lead patina forms.
Provided in a no-spill pack to avoid spills, drips and clean-up, this oil is easy to apply. It is vital to treat areas of newly installed lead exposed to flowing water over the surface and onto the surrounding areas. In these cases, the staining of tile and brick can be severe.
The product should be shaken thoroughly, and surfaces must be dry before use. You should apply the oil evenly with a soft absorbent cloth, working horizontally from the top and maintaining a wet edge. Before clipping, apply the oil to the underside of the lead approximately 50mm from the edge. Oil should be applied to all areas, including clips, trims and coat between laps.
