Xtra-Seal QD Bitumen Primer is suitable for application to a variety of substrates, in order to seal and improve the adhesion of bituminous waterproofing treatments.
Xtra-Seal QD Bitumen Primer is a low viscosity, black, quick drying bitumen priming solution consisting of high quality bitumen’s and hydrocarbon solvents.
Container size: 25 litres.
Coverage: 3 to 11m2/litre.
Metal surfaces: 6 to 11m2/litre.
Bituminous surfaces: 5 to 8m2/litre.
Concrete surfaces: 3 to 4m2/litre.
Drying time: 1 to 3 hours.
Colour: black.
Xtra-Seal QD Bitumen Primer is designed to penetrate and seal dusty or porous substrates of masonry, concrete, cementitious screeds or renders, existing bituminous or asphalt waterproofing, structural steelwork and other metals, prior to the application of bituminous membranes.
Apply only when atmospheric and substrate temperatures are greater than 5°C. The surface of the substrate should be clean and dry and must be 3°C above the dew point. If the surface is below or at dew point temperature then moisture can form at the surface and affect coating adhesion and drying.
Apply by brush or roller ensuring the primer is well applied into the surface. Apply a thin coat and avoid pooling. Allow to dry thoroughly before over coating.
Once dry ensure the primed surface is kept free of dust prior to the application of the bituminous membrane.
Allow to dry thoroughly before over coating. Drying time is dependent upon ambient temperature, atmospheric conditions and substrate porosity however Xtra-Seal QD Bitumen Primer can be dry within an hour at 20°C.
