This Manthorpe roll-out dry hip system offers a quick and clean method for fixing hip tiles, saving you from labour-intensive, messy mortar techniques without the need for special tools. The easy-fit mechanical fixings stop tiles from lifting in high winds and prevent rain from entering beneath the roofing.
Compatible with most types of clay and concrete hip tiles, this versatile system can be used with most slate, concrete profiled and flat tiles and fitted to the hip of most roof pitches within the tile manufacturer's recommendations for the tile in use. It is UV stabilised and can be installed in all weathers, providing 5,000mm² ventilation for your roof space. One box includes enough components for a 6m hip length.
To install the system, a length of vent roll is fitted along the hip and smoothed out over the existing roofing tile profile. Then, the hip tray is installed above and secured with nails or screws to deliver a level and straight platform for laying tiles along the hip's length.
With the eaves tiles in place at the bottom of the hip, the Manthorpe union piece can be fixed. A hip tile is then slotted into the union piece one course above and locked into position with the mechanical fixing. This process is repeated to the top of the hip, where a tile is mitred and fixed traditionally.
