Question:
How are these installed and can they be put directly over an existing bitumen shed roof?
Answer:
The Square Butt 3-Tab Roofing Bitumen Felt Shingles are installed over a solid roof decking such as OSB or plywood, with a bitumen underlay placed underneath. Start from the eaves and work your way up, nailing each shingle in overlapping rows. The shingles are usually fixed using four clout nails per shingle, and the courses are staggered for the best coverage. The ridge is finished with cut shingle caps. As for installing the shingles over an existing bitumen shed roof, it is possible, but only if the current roof is flat, fully bonded, and in good condition. However, for the best results and longevity of your new shingles, it's generally recommended to remove the old shed felt first. This is because any unevenness or mineral felt can potentially cause leaks and shorten the lifespan of the new shingles.
Question:
These are being laid on a gazebo roof made of cedar wood, pressure treated. Is an underlay required?
Answer:
Yes, an underlay is highly recommended when installing the Square Butt 3 Tab Roofing Bitumen Felt Shingles, even on a pressure-treated cedar wood roof like your gazebo's. The underlay serves to protect the cedar boards, prevent wind-driven rain from getting under the shingles, and helps extend the lifespan of the shingles. A simple bitumen felt underlay, laid horizontally with overlaps, is typically used for this purpose. You can refer to our Installation Guide for more details on how to properly install the underlay and shingles. Here is the link to the guide: Installation Guide.

Answer:
Good Morning Dave
Thank you for the enquiry and we really appreciate you shopping with us here at Roofing Superstore - I have sent you a personal email with a list of what you would need for your roof. With this shingle, you make the ridge yourself by cutting one shingle into three ridges.
If you need further assistance, please get in touch with me on 01752 692760 with any questions or just reply to this email and myself or one of my colleagues will be happy to assist.
Question:
I have a lean to roof size 3m x 2.3 How much will I need?
Answer:
You would need 3 x packs to cover that area (with a few left over).
Question:
I have got shed which got falling roof on 4sides .I measured it properly and it's got 15m2 . I don't really understand the description of the product ,does one pack of your felt shingles have 3m2 inside and it's able to cover 3m2 on the roof?
Answer:
The coverage of one pack is 15m² once laid, so if you have an area of 15m² you would need 5 x packs. But perhaps worth getting 6 to be on the safe side in case of any cuts/wastage on site.
Question:
How to fit them?
Answer:
These are fit with a couple of clout nails and sealant.
