EPDM Adhesive
EPDM adhesive is especially designed to secure EPDM rubber roofing in place. It comes in the forms of bonding adhesive, spray, and EPDM tape.
One of the most popular kinds is EPDM contact adhesive. Solvent-based contact bonding adhesives are a type of glue made from polymer resin and kept in a liquid glue state. They are applied directly onto concrete and other non-porous substrates as well as the EPDM layer itself. You must wait until it is touch-dry but still tacky or slightly sticky before installing the EPDM.
Contact adhesive spray for EPDM membranes are normally solvent-based, but make the application much quicker and more seamless. It is also less messy as you do not have to spend time spreading the glue. The most efficient method is to spray it in a cross-hatch pattern, creating horizontal strokes on either the EPDM or the substrate and vertical strokes on the other. The drying time is also much quicker when using an aerosol.
The other type is a wet-lay, or water-based adhesive. These are applied to the centre of standard timber roof decks, with the EPDM sheet laid directly over the top.
